Welcome, The Daily Journal fiber project establishes multiple diverse paths of fiber through the City of Kankakee. Construction has started. Fiber broadband communication consists of transmitting data from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber strand of cable.
Time to completion as the project moves forward is 3-4 months. Project Phase 1 North could be completed by May 2012. Construction will began on April 17. Client site surveys are being conducted on April 11. If your interested in a site survey please fill in the form on this website. Fiber access delivery will consist of multiple fiber split points with a single hop Internet connection. Connections speeds from megabytes to GigE are delivered over the fiber strand as symmetrical. The fiber paths are established at the NOC Data Center with collocation repeater facilities; the fiber branches North and South of the City of Kankakee.
The fiber connections will carry traditional ISP services and transport only connections. Fiber build out will include multiple splice points and backup facilities.
The fiber project will enhance Internet technologies for the downtown area of the City of Kankakee. Kankakee will be in the forefront of the Internet revolution delivering symmetrical carrier grade reliable connections via fiber. Kankakee downtown will become the choice of companies looking for the best in Internet connectivity for a vast number of applications they may want to use.
